Pathway Components
Clinical Experiences
- Continuity clinic at the OB/GYN and Primary Care Clinic at UW Medical Center - Roosevelt
- Immersion blocks each year with women's health related didactics and clinical time
- Women’s health clinical elective during either R2 or R3 year, with clinic time in gynecology, dysplasia, and breast clinics
- HIV elective at Madison Clinic
DIDACTICS
- Lectures & small-group discussions during the immersion blocks of R1, R2 & R3 years that address both clinical and social determinants of women’s health
- Procedural skills include IUD and Nexplanon insertion, endometrial biopsy and medical abortion training
CAPSTONE SCHOLARLY PROJECT
- Dedicated time during immersion block to complete a scholarly project, which could be curriculum development, case report/abstract/original research, QI project.
MENTORSHIP & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Semi-annual mentor meetings with an assigned faculty member working in women’s health
- Teaching portfolio development
LEADERSHIP AND TEACHING
- Opportunities for advocacy and community involvment
- Creating teaching materials including pre-clinic conferences (R2s), small group teaching materials (R3s) and one academic half day put on by all immersion residents each year
